About:
Van Berlo emerged as one of Adelaide’s most prolific ball winners in 2008 with 225 kicks and 251 handballs, including
a career high 40 possessions against Carlton in round 18. Used as a tagger
in his time at the club van Berlo was able to improve the offensive part of his game and his elite fitness allowed him to become a damaging midfielder. He was elected into the leadership group again for a second year. Despite having groin surgery post-season van Berlo returned to pre-season training and set a club record 9.29 for the 3km time trial.

Van Berlo was drafted by the Crows in 2004. That season he had captained the West Perth Colts team, represented Western Australia in the NAB AFL under-18 championships, was named in the WAFL Colts team of the year and starred in testing at the AFL draft camp.
