Rhys had a superb debut season to be named the 2008 NAB AFL Rising Star. After being an emergency in the 
opening round, he missed just one 
other match in 2008 after suffering with a knee injury. A prolific ball-winner with more possessions (462) than any 
other Fremantle player, he has plenty 
of courage, good pace and great endurance. The former East Fremantle midfield star was fourth in the club’s best and fairest. A full pre-season should stand him in good stead for the upcoming season as he shapes as a real talent of the future for Fremantle.
